Tate Modern Art Gallery

The Tate Modern is an art gallery located in London housing modern to present day contemporary art. It is Britain’s national gallery of international modern art and forms part of the Tate group of four art galleries in the UK.

It is based in the former Bankside Power Station, in the Bankside area of the London Borough of Southwark.

Opening Times

Sunday to Thursday 10.00–18.00 (last admission & ticket sales 17:15)

Friday to Saturday 10.00–22.00 (last admission & ticket sales 21:15)

The last admission and ticket sales are for the special exhibitions which charge an entrance fee. The ticket office will be closes at the times stated above.

Entrance Fees

Entry is free to the Tate Modern for all regular exhibitions and displays.

Some special exhibitions and events charge an admission fee depending on the circumstances. These fees vary in price depending on the exhibition.

Tate Members and Patrons are entitled to unlimited free entry to all special exhibitions and events using their members or patrons card.

Special exhibitions range in price from £15 to £25 (£13 to £22 without donation)

Special exhibitions concessions range in price from £11 to £22 (£10 to £20 without donation)

Visitors with a disability pay the concessionary rate, but can bring one carer for free.

Visitors aged 12-18 years old pay £5.

Children under 12 years old enter for free (up to four children per adult)

By Train

Blackfriars 300 metres from the South exit; 800 metres from the North exit.
London Bridge 1,100 metres approx.

By Car

Being in Central London travelling by car is not recommend. There are no parking facilities at Tate Modern or in the surrounding streets. The nearest public car park is on the other side of the River Thames, across the Southwark Bridge.
